    佛山是中国广东省的一个现代化工业城市，下辖禅城、南海、顺德、高明和三水五个区，面积3797.72平方公里，常住人口726.2万人。
    Foshan is a modern industrial city of Guangdong Province. Under its jurisdiction are five districts: Chancheng, Nanhai, Shunde, Gaoming and Sanshui which have a total area of 3,797.72 sq. km. and a permanent population of 7.262million.

     The city has abundant rainfall and enjoys spring like weather all the year round with an average annual temperature of 23.2C due to its subtropical monsoon cli-mate. It has been known as land of fish and rice since ancient times. Xijiang River and Beijiang River (branches of Pearl River) and their branches all run through Fo-shan, making it a typical delta city covered by river networks.
     佛山“肇迹于晋，得名于唐”，历史悠久，底蕴深厚，是中国古代“四大名镇”和天下“四大聚”之一，也是中国历史文化名城。佛山素有陶艺之乡、粤剧之乡、武术之乡、美食之乡等诸多美誉，也是中国近代民族工业的发源地之一。佛山人文荟萃，涌现出李小龙、黄飞鸿、叶问等武术奇才和康有为、陈启沅、詹天佑等时代巨子。
    Foshan is famous as a historic and cultural city. Its history can be traced back to the Jin Dynasty some 1,800 years ago. Its name, which literally means "Budd-ha Mountain", started to be used in the Tang Dynasty more than 1,000 years ago. The city was one of the “Four Major Towns” and “Four Gathering Places for Busin-ess” in ancient China. It has long been known as home to pottery, Guangdong Opera, martial arts, delicacies and a birthplace of modern national industry. It is also home to a great number of renowned figures such as martial arts talents like Bruce Lee, Wong Fei Hung, Yip Man and national gurus including Kang Youwei, Chen Qiyuan and Jeme Tien Yow.

    Foshan is at the juncture of East Asia and Southeast Asia, an economically vibrant area in the Asia Pacific Region. Located in the central part of the Pearl River Delta (PRD), Foshan is the only overland channel that connects the economies of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau to Southwest China and the ASEAN Free Trade Area. The city has been constructing the “Guangzhou Foshan Economic Circle”  toge-ther with South China center Guangzhou, its neig-hbor on the east. With Hong Kong and Macao on the south, Foshan is among the first model cities for implementing the CEPA (Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement between the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong & Macao).

    Foshan boasts world class transportation conditions. Since Foshan is a comprehensive transportation hub integrating roads, railways, flights and water ways,it has become an important gateway through which foreign investors expand their business in China. It is only less than one hour’s car ride from downtown Foshan to any of the three transportation centers in Guangzhou, i.e. the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, the Guangzhou New Train Station and the Nansha Harbor, and about two h-ours’ car ride to Hong Kong or Macao. The Foshan Airport provides commuting planes daily to places like Beijing. The fifteen foreign trade ports in Foshan enjoy booming business.      Foshan is a global leading city in the density of its expressways whose length totals 408 kilometers. Presently the density of express-ways in key areas of the PRD is higher than that in Metropolitan circles of Tokyo, Paris and London.

     Rapid rail transit is driving the Guangzhou-Foshan Integration.     Foshan boasts strong, solid industrial foundations and is leading other domestic cities in industrial scale and industrial integration. Foshan’s output of microwave ovens constitutes 48.6% of the total in China and ranks No.1 in the world. Foshan also produces 85% of China’s ceramic machinery, 60% of its building ceramics, 40% of its aluminum alloy and stainless steel building materials, as well as 15% of the world’s cameras. The city’s outputsof refrigerators and air conditioners account for 80% and 50% of the total in Guangdong, respectively.

    Foshan is giving great impetus to its “3+9” project, that is, constructing a world class featured base for each of such three industries as white household appli-ances, new display devices and modern ceramics, and a state level featured base for each of these nine industries: professional mechanical equipment, metal materials processing & metal products, textiles & garments, foods & beverages, furniture, medicine & health care, auto & auto parts, new materials as well as energy saving products. Chancheng Hi-tech Industries Development Zone
Planned area: 26 sq. km.
Key industries: Optical-mechanical electronic integration, auto parts and accessories, precision manufacturing, new materials, nonferrous metal processing, ceram-ics,textiles, household appliances.This industrial zone aims to become an eco industrial area with characteristics of Lingnan water townships.

占地面积：4.5平方公里，可开发面积1.5平方公里，首期开发面积33.5万平方米。
发展方向：大力发展金融产品研发中心、清算结算中心、金融信息咨询中心、理财服务中心等智力密集型高端金融后台产业。吸引国内风险投资、私募股权等创新型金融机构进驻。
Guangdong High Tech Service Zone for Financial Institutions
Area: 4.5 sq. km., out of which 1.5 sq. km. is exploitable. The first-phase area is 335, 000 sq. meters.
Key industries: The zone will focus on intelligent-intensive financial back-office industries such as financial products research centers, clearing and settlement cen-ters, financial information consulting centers and wealth management service centers. It will also attract domestic innovative financial institutions such as VC and priv-ate equity firms to settle down.
